The Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce was the first chamber of commerce in the United States to formally endorse and adopt The Natural Step in 2010, a process and framework a created by a nonprofit international team of advisors, associates, educators and scientists around the world working to help communities, businesses and organizations develop innovative and practical strategies toward sustainability.
With the help of Global Zen Sustainability, a local Natural Step consultant, the Chamber has undergone our own sustainability audit and continues to work to reduce our own business footprint.
This spring, the Chamber joined with Bainbridge Graduate Institute, Sustainable Bainbridge and the Bainbridge Public Library to present a lecture series, Building A Sustainable Economy, featuring guests speakers from BGI. The series will continue in the fall of 2012.
The Chamber supports and promotes sustainability efforts and projects in our community, both residential and commercial, including:
Bainbridge Graduate Institute
Sustainable Bainbridge
RePower Bainbridge
Zero Waste Initiative
